The purpose of this policy is to establish procedures and guidelines for wiring for electric power, street lights, telephone service and cable television in all subdivisions.
Underground wiring for electric power, street lights and telephone service is required in all subdivisions, except:
A. For lines rated over 15,000 volts
B. Appurtenance serving such lines which may be mounted on the ground, such as transformer pads and telephone service pedestals; or
C. For those proposed subdivisions or replats of existing subdivisions located in areas which presently have an overhead type utility distribution system
All such installation shall be in accordance with the rules and regulations adopted by the City of Hillsboro. Cable television as a utility, if installed, shall be placed underground in accordance with the above requirements. Where telephone, electric, street lights and gas lines are placed underground entirely throughout a subdivision, conduits or cables shall be placed within easements or dedicated public ways in a manner which will not conflict with other underground services. Further, all transformer boxes shall be located so as not to be unsightly or hazardous to the public.
Nothing in this policy shall be construed as to requiring underground installation of lines beyond the boundaries of the area contained in a preliminary plat.
All utility lines for telephone and electric service, when carried on overhead poles in other than the above urban areas, shall be placed in rear lotline easements or designated side lotline easements.
