The purpose of this policy is to set a standard for a response from the city when requests for donations are received.
The city council will not make monetary donations or contributions to individuals for any purpose. The city council will not make monetary contributions to civic groups or other entities unless said contribution is for a specific municipal purpose or service, and a written agreement between the two entities specifying the purpose of agreement is made.
This policy is extended to the purchase of advertisements in calendars, yearbooks, or other publications made by civic, school or church groups.
Requests are to be made to the city administrator, who is authorized to determine if said purpose or service proposed in the request meets the requirements of this policy. The placement of any such request on a council agenda will be at the discretion of the city administrator.
