OBJECTIVE

To clarify the process of staffing and implementing aquatic programs and special events at the Hillsboro Family Aquatic Center.

POLICY

1.    Swimming Lesson Instructors’ Wage

       Instructors who are a certified Water Safety Instructor (WSI) shall receive a set wage while instructing. Lifeguards who are not WSI-certified shall receive their regular hourly wage. Outside instructors without a WSI shall receive the starting lifeguard wage.

2.    Private Lessons

       Private lessons may be scheduled only during other guarded programming. All private lessons shall be managed through the aquatic center and instructors shall be on the clock (at a separate, set wage) while conducting private lessons.

3.    Water Aerobics and Other Aquatic Fitness Programs

       All programs shall be managed through the aquatic center and instructors shall be on the clock (at a predetermined wage) while instructing.

4.    Swim Team

       The Recreation Director, Aquatic Director, and Swim Team Coach shall work in conjunction with one another, performing the duties outlined in each respective job description, to manage the swim team.

5.    Pool Parties

       All reservations must be made through the aquatic center and must be approved by the Aquatic Director. Upon making the reservation, the aquatic center will collect all billing information and the person reserving the facility shall be informed that he/she will be charged for the first hour if the party cancels or doesn’t show and fails to notify the facility at least 3 hours prior to the scheduled party time.
