The Regulations set forth herein are adopted under authority of state statutes and in accordance with the adopted Land Use Plan for the City of Hillsboro, Kansas.
These Regulations shall apply to all structures and land within the incorporated area of the City of Hillsboro, Kansas, plus such unincorporated areas as may be added to the zoning jurisdiction by ordinance.
Whenever amendments to the text of these Regulations or to the Zoning District Map are proposed which will affect property located outside the corporate boundary of the City of Hillsboro, written notice of such proposed action shall be given to the Governing Body of the county at least 20 days prior to the proposed action.
For property annexed into the City for development purposes, any present agricultural use of the property, including the growing of any agricultural crops or keeping of animals, shall be allowed to continue until the property changes ownership. In order to qualify for continued agricultural use, the land shall be held under one ownership and have been platted or officially designated for future residential, commercial or industrial development in accordance with city code and the city's most recently adopted Comprehensive Plan. Continued agricultural use does not allow for feedlots or development in areas designated as a floodplain district.
